【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversfivetypesandtwostylesofopenandonetype,andonestyleofcoveredwoodcratesdesignedfornetloadsnotexceeding4000lb[1814kg].Opencratesaresuitableforshipmentofitems,whicharenotreadilysusceptibletodamagefromoutsideforces,andwhichrequireonlylimitedprotectionagainsttheelements.1.2Ifenvironmentalprotectionisnecessary,useofashroudoracoveredcrateshouldbeconsidered.WiththeexceptionofTypeIII,StyleBcrates,thecratesincludedinthisspecificationareforuseindomesticandoverseasshipmentofnetloadsnotover4000lb[1814kg].UseshallbeconfinedtoitemsfallingwithinthedimensionsandweightlimitationsofthetypesandgradesspecifiedinTable1.1.3Ingeneral,StyleAcrateshaveheaviercomponentsandaretowithstandratherseverehandlingandmultipleshipments(heavy-duty),whileStyleBcratesshouldbeconfinedtohandlingandshippingthatimposeonlylighttomoderatehazardsonthecontainer(light-duty).TypesI,IV,andVcratesaregeneralpurposetypes;TypeIIcratesaredesignedforitemssuchasladders,tubing,extrusions,orwallboardwhichdonotrequireblocking,bracing,orcushioning;andTypeIII,StyleBcratesaredesignedforsuchself-supportingmaterialaschannels,angles,orotherstructuralmemberswherethecontainerservesonlyasameansformoreconvenientstackingandhandling.1.4Iftheuseofotherconstructionmethodsortechniquesisacceptableandpermitted(see5.1.13),theresultingpackagingsystemsshallbeofequalorbetterperformancethanwouldresultfromtheuseofthesespecifiedmaterialsandprocedures.TheappropriatedistributioncyclespecifiedinPracticeD4169canbeusedtodevelopcomparativeproceduresandcriteria.1.5ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.TABLE1CrateClassificationTypeStyleA,HeavyDutyStyleB,LightDutyMaximumNetLoad(lb/kg)InsideDimensions,maxMaximumNetLoad(lb/kg)InsideDimensions,maxLength(ft/mm)Width(ft/mm)Height(ft/mm)Length(ft/mm)Width(ft/mm)Height(ft/mm)I
